Hello, friends! It’s been a bit and I think we’re all in need of a little inspiration. September is coming to an end and we are expecting lower temperatures next week. Here in Texas, fall weather typically doesn’t start until closer to Halloween, so when I say cooler weather I mean 80 degrees. LOL
Earlier this month I had the opportunity to travel abroad to celebrate my boyfriend’s 30th birthday. This was my first time over seas, and boy, it did NOT disappoint. In the heart of the Aegean Sea lies a captivating gem, Rhodes, Greece. Our trip was the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, set against the backdrop of the mesmerizing scenery that Rhodes has to offer.
A Luxurious Haven: Maiya Exclusive Resort & Spa
Our journey began with a stay at the Maiya Exclusive Resort & Spa, a five-star haven that took luxury to new heights. This adults-only resort offered not only comfort but also amazing staff and breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. What set it apart were the private pools located right outside our room, and attention to detail during our stay. Once the staff realized myself and my boyfriend were there celebrating birthdays, they surprised us with birthday cake and wine in our room. Each day, the cleaning staff would leave personal touches in the room such as fresh flowers, or rose petals on the bed. We met several couples that were at Maiya for their 3rd or 4th time, with one on their 13th trip to the resort. That is a true testament to how amazing this resort it.
Relaxation: A Day at the Spa
To truly unwind, we opted for a rejuvenating spa day at the resort. A couples’ full-body massage followed by facials left us feeling relaxed and refreshed. The spa is available to all guests during their stay and is equipped with two saunas, a true Turkish Bath, sensory showers, jetted pools and a hot tub. The soothing ambiance of the spa and the skillful hands of the therapists made it a great experience.
Poolside Bliss and Delicious Food
Our days were often spent lounging by the resort pools, sipping on cocktails, and basking in the Mediterranean sun. However, we couldn’t resist the wide array of cuisines at the restaurants located at various spots around the resort. Italian, Greek, Asian, American street food, etc. they had it!
Sailing into the Sunset: A Private Catamaran Experience
One of the most unforgettable days of our trip was when we set sail on a private catamaran. As we glided through the waters, the crew, Lisa and Antonis, pampered us with fine wine and mouthwatering food. We sailed around Rhodes and got to see the castle in Lindos, before anchoring in the Blue Lagoon where we got to snorkel, do a little exploring and enjoy a Greek lunch. It was an experience that felt like a dream – the two of us, surrounded by the Aegean Sea.
Exploring the Heart of Rhodes: A Winery Tour
On another remarkable day, we ventured to the west side of Rhodes Island for a private winery tour. This journey offered us a unique perspective on the island. As we traversed into picturesque landscapes, we passed through charming Greek towns and had the pleasure of meeting friendly locals. The day culminated in a truly magical experience – watching the sun descend from the steps of a historic monolith. The hues of the sunset painted the sky, creating a memory that will forever be etched in our minds.
Culinary Delights: Stefano Fish Restaurant
No trip to Greece is complete without indulging in its delectable cuisine. Our favorite culinary experience was at Stefano Fish Restaurant, where tradition met innovation. This third-generation family-run establishment allowed us to handpick our fish from the kitchen. The freshness of the seafood, combined with the culinary mastery of the chefs, resulted in a meal that was nothing short of divine. Not to mention the stunning views you get of the ocean during your meal. If you ever get the chance to visit Rhodes, this is a MUST VISIT. I promise, you won’t be disappointed.
Our inspirational trip to Rhodes, Greece, was a celebration of life, beauty, and adventure. It showed us the magic that can be found in a perfect blend of relaxation and exploration, luxury and simplicity. From the tranquil oasis of Maiya Exclusive Resort & Spa to the rugged beauty of the island’s rocky beaches, and from the private catamaran adventure to the heartwarming encounters with locals, Rhodes offered us a unique and unforgettable experience. It’s a destination that will forever hold a special place in our hearts, reminding us of the beauty that exists in the world and the power of travel to inspire and rejuvenate the soul.
